Northeast US Dental Market Intelligence
A market-gap platform that fuses four public datasets to score every zip code in four states on dental care supply versus demand, surfacing underserved markets a practice could enter.

53,514
providers mapped across PA, NJ, NY, and CT
The question
Where should a dental practice open next? Provider directories, Medicare claims, and census demographics each hold part of the answer. This project joins them into one gap score per zip code.
Data & pipeline
- Fused NPPES provider registry, CMS Medicare Part B claims, Census ACS demographics, and Google Places data
- MySQL pipeline covering 53,514 providers and 4,466 zip-level metric rows across PA, NJ, NY, and CT
- Gap scoring model comparing provider supply against population demand per zip code
- Specialty desert mapping and Tableau dashboards for exploration
What I found
- Zip 08759 (Manchester Township, NJ) emerged as the standout high-gap market in the four-state region
- Specialty deserts (zips with population demand but no specialist supply) cluster in predictable, mappable bands
